JOHNSON CITY, TENNESSEE
The goal was to design an office building on this unique site that felt separate from the infrastructure of the city and gave workers a place that felt composed and collected compared to the surrounding environment. The building is set into a hillside to bring daylight into the main work area with views of the mountains to the south. Passive solar heating and cooling techniques were used to achieve LEED Gold certification. The building is split into two main areas using a large stone wall that physically and visually separates the public and private areas. The main area is designed with an open floor plan for collaboration with private offices, conference rooms and quiet spaces. The building includes a community room, fitness room and showers.
