This new office building combined city and county offices for all departments associated with permitting and public works. While not certified LEED, it is notable in that it was Chattanooga’s first major sustainable building and was specifically designed to be flexible and to encourage collaboration and innovation between two disparate government agencies. The building is 85,000 square feet and contains a public lobby and meeting room along with multiple meeting areas, both formal and informal, intended to encourage people to interact. The Development Resource Center received an AIA Tennessee Award of Commendation and the ASID Gold Award for interior design.
